Rhinopltasy

I've been to only 2 doctors about a rhinoplasty and they both charge over $10,000! I can only afford half of that cost, but of course I am scared of getting a botched job if I find a doctor who charges that lower price, are there good, expirienced doctors willing to charge that low of a price?

There are many skilled plastic surgeons out there, and the cost of surgery is often independent of the product. This means that some physicians charge a lot, but do not deliver quality. Also, some charge less, and deliver beautiful results. If you have a friend or family member who has had plastic surgery or works in the hospital, this is a great source for a referral.

I would continue to shop around. Your choice in surgeons should not be a quick decision and should not be based solely on cost alone. The price also depends upon the region where you live. Malpractice premiums are higher in New York, so surgery costs more. In states with lower premiums, surgery costs less. Good luck!

Hi, it depends on what exactly is entailed, but typically a rhinoplasty is a bit more than $5000. Though you may be able to finance the balance that you cannot pay upfront. There are some great financing companies that assist with cosmetic surgery. Alphaeon Credit, CareCredit, Enhance Patient Financing and Medical Financing are some that I accept. I would recommend holding off on surgery and saving the money to have the procedure done with the doctor you are comfortable with than settling for a doctor that fits your price range. Look at before and after results and patient reviews. Good luck!

I don't know where you live, but there are many skilled Plastic Surgeons whos fees may be less in areas close to you. Experience matters. Be sure to check the credentials of any surgeon you choose. Good luck

You could see a third doctor in a different location. Surgical cost do vary by location. You want to make sure you are having a board certified plastic or facial plastic surgeon performing your surgery. Rhinoplasty has a relatively high rate of patients desiring revision sometimes as high as twenty percent so you want someone who will get it right the first time.

Having seen 2 surgeons and gotten similar quotes, you have a good idea of the going cost of the procedure you need. You did not say exactly what was being done. The extent of the procedure will also determine the cost. I would not look for cut-rate surgery, as that is the type surgery you will get. Save your money until you can afford the procedure.

Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult of all cosmetic surgeries to get right - that's why I don't do it, but my partner does. I would definitely be wary of "bargain" doctors and whomever you choose, make sure they have a lot of experience with this procedure. They should be a board-certified surgeon in some specialty that deals with noses: Otolaryngology (ENT) with facial plastics training, Plastic Surgery, or Oro-maxillofacial surgery with cosmetic surgery training. If it were my nose, I wouldn't trust any other specialty and I would want the surgeon to do a lot of noses before getting to mine!

I do not know what type of rhinoplasty and the number of modifications that you need are. I would suggest that you speak to a few plastic surgeons to get a good idea of what type of procedure you require.

The price of an operation does vary throughout the country. Part of this is based on cost of rent , employees, malpractice insurance costs, and many other factors. THe cost of a procedure in New York City is much more than it is in a small community in South Carolina. Just as the cost of good steak dinner.

Just because you pay more, does not mean it is better. You need to feel comfortable with the surgeon, see some of his before and after photos, read testimonials, and meet his/her staff.

Then make a decision. Good Luck

Do not judge your doctor by the price he charges. There is no correlation. Remember, it is a sellers market and if the patient equates price to quality they are probably going to be disappointed.

Call the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery for a board certified ENT specialist who represents the best trained doctor to perform nasal surgery.

Generally, plastic surgeons are less well trained. That doesn't mean there aren't some good ones.

If you are near a University Medical Center call the Dept. of Ear, Nose and Thraot surgery for a consultation. If you have any doubts do not do it you will most often be disappointed.

Best of luck and crawl before you walk and be clear in your mind of what your expectations are for this procedure./

Cost is always a factor when considering surgery but it should be about the last thing you think of. First, with any surgery, bad things can happen (bleeding, infection, inadvertent damage to structures other than you nose such as your tear ducts and getting a result you are happy with). When a complication occurs your costs may end up being a lot more than you originally paid. While going to someone that is experienced and usually charges more, you may actually being paying less in the end.

Second, this is your body and the results will last a lifetime. Do you want to go to the best available or the cheapest? Again, I suspect that the one who charges the going rate is the one you will want to have do your rhinoplasty. I urge you to save up and go with the best; not the cheapest.

You may want to go see another couple of surgeons but make sure they are a plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist who is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

I hope that helps.

Best regards.
