Your brief description indicates your issue may be mechanical related, i.e., alignment and movement issues. While exercises may help (on your own or with PT), you'll need to change the alignment and functional movement of the related joints. X-ray may be helpful to determine mechanical integrity. In my office we also help patients with a soft tissue method of treatment, Active Release (A.R.T.).

My recommendation is to see a chiropractor for evaluation and treatment. You can continue to perform the exercises until then. He may advise you to continue with them or add/change some more. Either way, chiropractic manipulation should give you more sustained relief than medications because it should solve the root of the problem and not simply your symptoms.
It sounds like you have some degenerative changes and cervical disc involvement, the best place to start would be a chiropractor. They would be able to do an orthopedic and neurological exam to pin point why and where your symptoms are coming from. They would also most likely do an x-Ray and/or MRI to assess for degeneration, disc involvement, and tell you why you continue to get recurring radicular arm symptoms. Medication will work temporarily, but the symptoms will return. You will most likely benefit from decompression/traction to the cervical spine, as this helps take pressure off the nerves that are being compromised. Good luck!!!

I would recommend seeking a local chiropractor, who will be able to properly evaluate your cervical condition. The underlying cause of the problem needs to taken care of to attain long term relief.
You should seek care from a Doctor of Chiropractic, who can detect and treat the underlying cause of the problem. Medication does nothing to correct the underlying problem and only masks the symptoms. While exercises help, they, too do not correct the underlying cause of the problem and can make things worse if there are imbalances in your muscles. Until you can get in to see someone, I recommend ice on the neck for 10 minutes at a time as often as every hour in order to reduce inflammation around the nerves and to calm the nerves down.
The answer is no I would not return for medication as it heals nothing. A proper examination and xrays should reveal the cause of the radiculopathy. The majority of the time this condition can be corrected with manipulation to remove the nerve irritation. Exercises should continue for sure, but if you have nerve impingement they will not correct the problem. Best of luck to you!!!
I would start with a Chiropractic Physician, let the professionally evaluate your specific body. While meds mask the symptoms, sometime for months at a time, the underlying situation still is there. I would not go back to the meds, but find the cause and correct that, drug free most likely.

Hello,

Pain that doesn't go way!

Indeed, exercise always helps to a certain extend, so it does a prescribed pain medication, which blocks the pain neuronal channel.....When pain returns, it is a sign of something a little more serious, and, the fact you describe the pain in the neck, to the shoulder, to the triceps, this is an indication, you may have a cervical disc involvement bellow the C4-5 region of the cervical spine. That said, it would be of great help to you situation to visit a Chiropractic Physician in your area, who is qualified to proceed to the appropriate management of your case. An X-ray or an MRI (if necessary....) would show the underlying problem. As far the medication, it is always important to manage with good care, especially with prescribed drugs. Good luck to you!

Along with the exercises, have some massage therapy and have a good chiropractic physician evaluate you.
What you're describing is a chiropractic case as evidence not only by excellent clinical results but also by peer-reviewed medical research.

It sounds as though you have not tried chiropractic. If you have, find a different one - one that focuses on spinal correction like a chiropractic biophysics doctor www.idealspine.com

If you had gone to a structural subluxation base chiropractor, there's a good chance that within merely a few weeks you would have been immensely better

I encourage you to do further research culminating in finding a chiropractor near you.
