Invisalign is a great solution to your orthodontic problems. If your dentist determines that you are a candidate for Invisalign, it is an ideal solution. No brackets and no wires. Easier to keep clean. Somewhat more expensive but I think that it is worth the extra cost.

BIG difference. Braces are still the gold standard. In the hands of a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist braces are almost twice as effective as clear aligners when evaluated by American Board of Orthodontics standards. Clear aligners are more esthetic, take longer, and cost more, but are practically invisible. As aligners can't achieve the same level of "finish," however, the end result less stable requiring more acidulous retention. If your problem is less challenging, and esthetics is your primary concern, consider aligners. If malocclusion more complex, best option probably braces (clear braces available). The primary decision should not be the gadget, but the training and skill of the practitioner. For example, if you needed surgery you would want the best practitioner you could find, one that had completed a surgical residency and who limited their practice to surgery only. Apply the same criteria when choosing a practitioner to resolve your malocclusion...it's your face.

The nice part about going with the Invisalign is there are no braces or wires to deal with. You can clean your teeth much easier. When discussing Invisalign or braces with an orthodontist always ask questions about your TMJ.

There are a lot of factors involved in determining a good Invisalign candidate most of it is based on the complexity which is case by case dependent. But more importantly is the patient compliance. I have seen patients before be forced to wear their invisalign for 5 years due to their lack of compliance in wearing their invisalign retainers. In this case braces could/would of fixed the issue quicker. Ask yourself a question before you make the decision. Do you feel like you are a disciplined type of person in getting day to day task taken care of? That is what I always ask patients when they are asking about invisalign. If you are, invisalign could work for you, if you are not but still want the alignment you have always wanted then brackets and braces might be a better option for you.

Both are good options to achieve similar end results. In my practice, I tend to do more invisalign because adults prefer the option of not having brackets and wires. It's clear so it's nearly invisible.

With traditional orthodontics the patient wears brackets attached to their teeth with metal wires attached to these brackets.

With Invisalign the patient wears clear aligners throughout the day and at night to move their teeth. It is a much more cosmetic procedure and the patients seem to love it.

most orthodontists knowing that braces can provide tooth movement over long distances with high accuracy ,will advise you of that. Obviously ,if you want very low show and no braces, Invisalign and other clear, removable appliances can be used, usually for easier corrections.

As an orthodontist specializing in your concerns, I offer both fixed and Invisalign to any patient with all their permanent teeth erupted. Invisalign can be used in a late mixed dentition, but then guess work of tooth size, eruption timing, etc. comes into consideration making things unptredictable. In addition, most children in a mixed dentition are in middle school and prefer traditional appliances where they can be creative in selecting colors. Invisalign can actually be advantageous in correcting some malocclusions and the convenience of being able to remove them is very attractive. Remember...the teeth don't know what is moving them, so it is best to discuss all your options and select the best appliances that will address your needs most effectively.

Invisalign and braces will get you to the same end point, but with different methodologies. The only advantage to braces, is that if you need to make a change (like reposition a bracket) you can do it on the fly. With Invisalign, you have to do a new scan (or impressions) and photos and go through the Clincheck process all over again. With Invisalign, you can eat normally and do your normal home care routine, as the aligners are removable. They are virtually invisible. There are no wires, bands or brackets to poke you. Invisalign has some efficiencies that braces don't have (such as distalization). I am doing a case right now taking the patient from a class III malocclusion to a class I occlusion with Invisalign...I could not imagine doing this case with braces. The treatment time for the case is about 14 months! To find out more go to Invisalign.com.

Hope this helps!

Yes when all orthodontic techniques fail the final solution is braces (metal). All types of alternative teeth movement like clear braces, six month smiles etc can achieve only a certain amount of teeth movement. The best way to achieve maximum results is by metal braces. Nevertheless, if you have a case of simple crowding and do not require teeth removal clear braces are fine.
