Spider veins in the thighs are common, and usually easily treated with sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is the gold standard for treatment of spider veins. Treatment of spider veins with laser often leads to disappointing results.

It is unlikely that creams or ointments will provide noticeable results, but if you are reluctant to treat, leg make up is an option. I will often take a "quick look", with the ultrasound, but if this is the only issue, a formal ultrasound isn't necessary. The intervals between treatment to a give area should not be less than 6-8 weeks, and there are safe amounts of solutions that can be used in a session. For isolated areas, this is rarely an issue, but if extensive areas in both legs are involved, then the amount of solution can be an issue. I can usually cover a leg in one session, and inform patients that I will asses them at 3 weeks, but not plan to re-inject for 2 months. I tell patients that they may see significant improvement after one session, but will almost surely see it after 2 sessions. The goal is improvement, and while we can successfully treat spider veins, we don't cure them.
it is not "normal" but very common. can be treated with laser or injections in dermatologist office. if not too severe you might try vitamin K cream twice daily

This is not normal , but can be successfully treated with sclerotherapy. These are small veins that have weak valves , and will only get worse with time .It is better to be seen by a vein specialist who can rule out underlying problems.
The outer thigh is a common place for 'spider veins' due to large feeder veins (perforators) in that area. Sclerotherapy and laser are often helpful for superficial veins. Several treatments are required for best results. if there is venous disease in the feeder vessels there is a high probability of recurrence. Diagnostic studies are very helpful in detecting disease in the deeper venous system. Other things that are preventative and helpful are weight loss, good nutrition and medical grade support hosiery.

ABNORMAL- and needs diagnostic venous ultrasound non-invasive testing and thensclerotherapy may be possible.

A lot of women have it. Even today the standard of care is injection sclerotherapy. Laser on the leg spiders is good mainly for the doctor and nor so for the patient. Also watch out if you are told that only a certain amount of solution can be given per session. NOT TRUE! This will increase the number of session which is financially detrimental to you. An average case needs 2-4 session in my office at 2-3 week interval and for spider veins compression is not a must, basically redundant!!.
You can either:

1. Do nothing

2. Remove them by a surgeon

3.Remove them by LASER or injection

Spider veins on the outside of the leg are not normal, but they are common. The most common reasons people get spider veins are genetic (their parents had them) and prolonged standing (nurses and teachers are common patients). As with many things, spider veins get worse with aging. There are no medications or self treatments that can reverse these, unfortunately.

For spider vein treatment Miami area patients turn to our office primarily for sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves injected a medication directly into the vein. The vein turns into scar tissue and is absorbed by your body. VeinWave is another spider vein treatment Miami area patients can avail themselves of in our office - this uses small microtargeted energy delivered through a bristle tip needle to destroy spider veins in real time.

Sclerotherapy is a quite simple and inexpensive office procedure. Talk to your Dermatologist or Vein Surgeon. Vessels of this type are very common and generally are not related to an underlying medical problem.

Many people develop spider veins on their legs. Having a few superficial veins does not mean that there is an underlying disease it simply means that your leg veins have become weaker and have enlarged. Having many veins sometimes means that there is a problem with the larger vein in the leg, the Greater Saphenous vein. If this is dilated, there is increased pressure going to the smaller veins and they continue to increase in number.

Treating the small spider veins is an easy process using injections called sclerotherapy. The injections can usually be done as a painless or minimal discomfort procedure. After injections patients need to wear compression and avoid exercise for several days. Treatments should last over a year in the absence of any further vein or circulatory problems.
