why am I crazy?

Ever since I was a little kid, I heard voices and started seeing things. In not talking about how when you think someone is calling you and no one's they're or when you talk to yourself, they come from my mind. I close my ears but still hear them. I shut my eyes but still see them. My doctor says I would grow from it but I don't know. I don't remember my friends name after i known them since I was in elementary and it's not like I forget a little of it I literally don't remember them.

The truth is you have not supplied enough information. As you are 18 and let's say a little kid age is 4, then you have been hearing voices and seeing things for ~ 14 year? How often? What are you hearing and seeing? May seem like a dumb questions but it is not.

Inability to remember the names of close contacts....this goes with the above and points a finger at the temporal lobe of the brain. First and foremost, I would get a functional brain scan called SPECT.scan, and from their you may need an MRI if the SPECT scan shows the presence of a cyst or some physical issue affecting your temporal lobe.

What I am saying is there is something not exactly correct going on, and talk therapy or anti psychotic medicines should not be on the table right now for you. Your brain actually needs to be looked at.

I know Dr. Amen has looked at the brains of "mediums" and I would direct you to one of the Amen clinics first and you can drop my name because I used to work there. I also used to work at the parapsychology lab at the UCLA Neuro Psychiatric Institute, when that lab existed 40 years ago.

I have seen a lot of weird stuff in my day.... You need assistance and guidance... not medication right now, and not someone asking you about how you feel about your mother.
Thank you for reaching out for guidance. It is important to see your primary care physician and develop a plan of action. There are variables that you did not mention, such as: what are the voices telling you and exactly what do you see? Please try to take all pertinent information to your physician. It may be helpful to write things down, such as date of first time you dealt with the voices or the visions. Currently, how often does this happen? is there a pattern to time of day or place or temperature? Is there any activity that brings these episodes on?

Could be really bad schizophrenia. I'm not a specialist, but I have schizophrenia. Or maybe it's just a neurological disorder or deffect.

Hi,

Dr. Stoller made excellent points. I would like to add this: if your brain scans (neurologist) do not reveal lesions or other problems, the remaining explanations include two broad areas of problems. They are 1. a psychotic disorder such as schizophrenia or 2. A dissociative disorder such as DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder. If you experience lost time episodes (black outs) or you are told by believable witnesses that you say things and do things that you have no memory at all of saying or doing and if you have a history of traumatic experiences such as sexual or physical abuse, you need to be evaluated by a doctorate level psychotherapist (MD, PhD) familiar with DID.

Now, there are what docs refer to as "Zebras," that is very unusual/unlikely causes that could explain this, so the first step is a more thorough evaluation.

Best of luck

Interesting. What is your take on what is happening to you? Although I cannot tell you for sure what is happening with you without more information and a psychological test. What I do know is the mind is a powerful thing. For whatever reason you see and hear things, so the first step is to get checked out by your doctor. After that I would be interested in talking with you some more. First things first. Get checked out so you maintain your personal health.
Try to see a psychiatrist practitioner. Don't call yourself crazy. This is just the way your brain works. The question is if you see illusions or hallucinations. Depending on it the diagnose will change. Your condition requires face-to-face medical attention. If psychiatrist diagnoses schizophrenia you may need special medical treatment including pharmaceutical drugs. If however everything that you see and/or hear are illusions the hypnotherapy and acupuncture may resolve the issue.

These are serious symptoms, and you are right to not accept just "blowing them off", or "growing out of them"!

As mentioned below, rule out physiological causes first (brain scan). If the results come back clean, seeing a specialist (psychiatrists) would be the next step. There are many different medicines that may help you manage hearing and seeing things that aren't real.

But please don't stop there. I think you would get a lot of help seeing a therapist, too. They can help you navigate the process so you can live the full, "normal" life that you deserve.

Best of luck!
Those are serious symptoms potentially reflecting a serious psychiatric or neurological disorder. Please see a psychiatrist and/or neurologist ASAP for a diagnostic evaluation and proper treatment b

It is very important that you get professional medical attention.Your symptoms seem very debilitating and need further evaluation. Please seek evaluation from a psychiatrist or psychologist to have a better evaluation and more details about your experiences.

It seems you are experiencing psychotic symptoms, yet psychotic symptoms have multiple causes. Other causes for psychotic symptoms must be ruled out before the symptoms are considered to be due to psychiatric conditions.

Seek professional evaluation, now!
