Depression?

I've been feeling lonely and sad and all I want to do is be alone. I'm 15 (female) and lately I've been making up excuses to not go out. I cry a lot and for the smallest things. Even for no reason. Sometimes I'm happy and it just changes quickly. I also get mad very easily. I have very negative thoughts and i sometimes can't sleep at night and everything starts coming to mind and I cry. Idon't know what this is, is it depression?

Please ask your parents to take you for a complete medical exam as a first step.

Ask your physician to refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist for further evaluation and treatment.

It sounds like something is going on, maybe there has been an upsetting event? Or maybe you need a really good check up. If you haven't been to an Gynecologist, this is a very good time to go. Feeling sad and lonely is often a marker of an endocrinology problem, such as thyroid...but it may be a hormone issue. Asking thee questions are very good...so now is the time to get started on the solution, which very well may be physiological.

I would first consult a neuropsychiatrist who has experience with the diagnosis and treatment of Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infection (PANDAS) and other potential bacteria or viruses can be contributing to these conditions. There is a lab called Moleculera Labs which specializes in testing for this and their website has excellent educational resources.
Yes it sounds very much like some form of depression - shifting mood states - crying - sleep issues - limited energy. If you can, examine your current life situation to see what frustrations, fears, losses or self-doubts may be influencing you. You want to hide away and be alone, a kind of withdrawing from the world which is typical of depression. What's important to understand is whether there are significant socio-emotional issues currently generating your feelings or did some how these very negative and depressive feelings just kind of emerge spontaneously without obvious cause. A safe and supportive therapeutic outlet may help in addition possibly to some low levels of antidepressant medication. There is an overwhelming sense of sadness at times in addition to anger., with possibly much of this anger directed more towards yourself. Hopefully this helps a bit, and please don't hesitate to reach out for help.

A complete physical exam would be the first recommendation. If there is not a physical cause for the sadness we would recommend a counselor/therapist trained in family systems work.

The therapist should also employ techniques that treat the "root cause" of the sadness and not just the symptoms. A complete intake form should be completed and reviewed along with a complete list of all medications taken, both over the counter and prescription medications. A history of the amount and how often any alcohol and/ or drugs are taken is necessary to provide the therapist with the complete picture to provide the best care for your situation.

According to your description it sounds like depression. Find a good hypnotherapist. Make sure he/she is a medical doctor or psychologist. Don't allow imposters to walk through your brain avenues.

That is a mood disorder, most likely depression. If you give in the Lansing, MI area, call 517-376-3326 and I will see you. Otherwise, be sure to get help.

15 year olds should be out having fun when they are not studying or doing chores. There could be a number of reasons why you are having the problems you are having. It could be depression, but it is necessary to rule out a number of other complications before settling on that diagnosis. You should seek a physical examination with tests to check and make sure you are physically healthy. You should also find a therapist that can help you get on your way to an emotionally healthier lifestyle.
