Respiratory allergies?

Why would someone without asthma, display symptoms that are extremely similar to an exacerbated asthma? I've been admitted to a hospital 4 times in 14 months for severe wheezing. I went to an pulmonologist today, who said my lungs are perfect and referred me to an allergist. She mentioned something called, "respiratory (?) disease". But I don't really understand. Can someone explain it to me in non medical terminology please? I'm just a computer nerd. No medical knowledge whatsoever.

You need a complete workup for asthma and allergies. When this is completed you with have a better plan on to proceed. See a qualified allergist as soon as possible.

it appears to be a multi factorial issues:

one; side effects/interaction of nerve related medications (Gabapentin & Dilantin).

2nd: parasympathetic dominance (Stress).

3rd: Hypoglycemia.

4th: demyelinating (nerve damage)

5th: food allergy to most likely coloring/flavoring types.

6th:

hypoxia (lack of oxygen), as the result of stress, as fast berating lowers oxygen.

a complete IgE food allergy, or an MRT food/coloring/preservatives test.

a balanced diet including complex carb and digestible proteins, deep berating, relaxation can all help.

The doctor who gave you the diagnosis should have explained it to you in terms you would be able to understand. At which point, if you did not grasp the gist of what he/she was saying, you should have asked the appropriate questions. I suggest you contact the physician for a more accurate diagnosis.

Because a Naturopath needs to know more about your whole life, I find it hard to tell you an answer to this question other than to say that "Respiratory Disease" refers to a whole range of conditions and symptoms related to the lungs. What kind of tests did your Pulmonary Doctor do? Did he do any kind of medical tests like Cat Scans or Pulmonary Function testing? If he or she just listened to your lungs that is not enough. If you decide to go to an allergist make sure before you spend the time that that doctor has the knowledge to do a blood allergy test, not the kind where they scrape your arm or back. I am suspecting that you are being exposed in work or home to some kind of molds. Where there is mold there are all kinds of little bugs connected to it and all kinds of debris related to these bugs that stir up trouble in the lungs. You might not even know of the mold. Many times it is in the homes attic spaces or under your home. If you see mold or evidence of water leaks it is most likely what is causing havoc in your lungs. Since I know very little about your lifestyle such as if you smoke or ever smoked or are around smokers I cannot say much more. Do some research also, since you are a computer nerd, on all of the medications you are taking and their side effects. Please remember that taking any kind of mixture of medications causes your body to be a chemical laboratory. Most doctors unfortunately do not spend the time necessary to study the side effects of multiple drugs in a body like yours that has obvious sensitivities. It is sad really that doctors are put in a position to shuffle a tremendous load of patients through their offices. Just write to the manufacturers or look online to see what the combined side effects are of the numerous drugs together. Be sure to give the manufacturers a full detail of your health conditions. The more information you can give them, the better off you will be knowing what you are taking and how those chemicals are helping or hurting you. I have always found that contacting the manufacturers directly helps because oftentimes they will have their chemist talk with you. I hope that this helps some.

In addition to the comments below, be aware that many allergies arise from reactions to what is in the home. Could be dust in rugs, curtains or vents or ducts, which need to be professionally cleaned.

You could be eating something that is giving you a temporary allergic reaction. Specifically go back over your diet and see if there's anything you're possibly allergic to dairy, wheat, soy, corn, etc. also look for artificial flavors colorings anything new you might have introduced into your system as of lately that could be causing a temporary breathing distress issue.

Hi,

Since you are unsure of what exactly was said "Respiratory ? Disease" I would just give the office a call and ask your doctor to describe it a bit better and possible get you some resources on the condition. If she did not say anything about further medication, give you a prescription, or treatment options, myself, knowing what respiratory disease is, would wonder if she was talking about something else and maybe there was a misunderstanding somewhere.

Different things can contribute to asthmatic symptoms in adults. You have a complex medical history as well. I would not dare make recommendations at this point unless I was your actually primary care health care professional. I can share I once had a client that had such bad wheezing and had been admitted to the hospital several times over the course of 1 year. One night a nurse thought to check the patient's throat area with the stethoscope and found the wheezing was actually in the throat area. The next day an ENT doctor examined the patient and found that stomach acid had eroded the lining of the patient's esophagus. So as you can read, there are many things that can cause your symptoms. I hope you are able to get over this. Feel free to contact me should you have further questions after you receive a firm diagnosis.
Many factors to this kind of condition. Mold exposure could be a cause of asthma symptoms. In my practice, the healing is done on the cellular level and then the organs of the body function properly. Many symptoms go away when detoxification is complete.

Dietary factors could also be a factor. Avoid dairy, wheat and all sources of sugar.

Allergies is your immune system being reactive to things it normally wouldn't be, like dog hair or pollen. These are normal things found in our environment, when we breath them in and our immune system is in a healthy state it doesn't react to these. A large part of your immune system is located in your digestive tract, nasal passage, and lungs. When the immune system is out of balance, which can happen for a number of reasons (ie, poor flora in your gut) then you experience more allergic exacerbations. This can look like spasms of the tubes in the lungs- asthma, congestion in the sinus, and hives on the skin.

Think about your skin, lungs and digestive track as all connected. The digestive tract is an extention of your skin, as are your lungs. Asthma and allergies are very closely related, it's important to treat them all together. The underlying issue stems from the immune system and to heal the immune system you need to restore healthy immunity in your gut. Naturopathic doctors are very good at improving allergies, asthma and other immune type issues. You wil have good sucess with one. Look for one in your area. I am on the Peninsula in California. Feel free to contact my office if you have any more questions. 650-271-9452

In lay man's term accumulation of solidified mucus in the respiratory track causes wheezing problems. If this condition is treated with medicines, it keeps giving you relief from pain and suffering, but leaves you in a worse condition than before. After years it will mature into inflammation of the lung parts when it is called asthma. You become more sensitive to even smallest objects in the air which they call allergy. The only way to treat persons like you is to first stop all drugging and educate you about the cause of the problem and show you how to lead a life without including such materials which create too much mucous in your body and also inspire you to engage in gradually increasing your exercise sessions in intensity and duration. It is necessary for you to become self reliant in matters of personal health instead of depending on doctors and drugs. Health science is not as complicated as people like to you to think. It is very necessary for a commercial purpose to keep testing different parts of our body and talk about anatomy and names of pathological conditions in Greek and Latin in order to confuse you more. All animals in the wild live in pure natural environments and live perfectly healthy life until their last day without any visit to their physician or pharmacy. It is necessary to learn about natural and healthy life. Since your question does not include treatment part for your problem, I stop here and hope that you have understood the situation.
