2 weeks ago I had a laparoscopic tubal ligation. My belly button incision really upsets me. I used to have a normal/deep innie belly button. Now I have literally like an outtie. I have cried over this worried it will look like this forever. The hard lump in my belly button is not sore but it should not be there! Will this go away?

The umbilicus is a common site for placement of instrumentation during laparoscopic procedures. After surgery, swelling will cause the tissues to bulge temporarily. Usually within 6 weeks the swelling and scar tissue in the umbilicus will subside and the belling button should return to its preoperative appearance. Although a hernia is possible, your description is more consistent with swelling and scar tissue than a hernia.

You appear have an umbilical hernia. This is when fatty tissue protrudes through a small defect in the fascia which presumably was caused by the laparoscopic cannula. This can be repaired. I would recommend a board certified plastic surgeon to do this after a time of healing.

Difficult to say based on the info provided. It is very common to have swelling after surgery , just like if you sprained your ankle and your ankle swells. It can take weeks for the swelling to go down. Other possibilities include the closure of the muscle. Infection or an early hernia. You need to give it more time to go down. If after 4-6 weeks it is still bulging talk to your surgeon.
