First you need to discover the origin of your back pain. Many disease processes can cause back pain, and a chiropractor is trained in locating the source of back pain, and the specialist when it comes to treating it! If your initial consultation and examination reveals a serious problem which eliminates you as a candidate for chiropractic care, an appropriate referral will be made. Chiropractic has had great success in treating many causes of back pain, and many professional athletes include a chiropractor on their health care team. Please schedule an appointment to see a chiropractor near you today!

Depends on what is causing the back pain. For a general question such as that, it is difficult to give an answer. There are a number of studies that show chiropractic adjustments for low back pain are effective at relieving that pain. Contact a chiropractor in your area so he/she can perform a detailed exam. The cause of your back pain can range anywhere from a simple sprain/strain to a disc bulge or floating fragment. So, to answer "What can i do for back pain?" the answer can range from ice/heat therapies, to chiropractic adjustments to surgery in some cases. Until you get evaluated by a chiropractor, i cannot give a simple answer.

Ice, fish oil, anti-inflammatory herbs, systemic enzymes, corrective exercise, yoga, and chiropractic. My first choice would be to see a chiropractor, as they can help you determine the source of your pain and provide you with recommendations as to how you can resolve the problem.

Dear Anonymous,

Back pain can be a simple or complex issue depending on the mechanism of injury/inflammation and whether your pain is chronic or acute in nature. Postural issues, de-conditioned muscles, prior traumas, degenerative changes to the spine as well as foot and hip problems can either be the cause of back pain or exacerbate pain levels. The best approach is not a wait and watch scenario. As a chiropractic physician I see back pain patients every day in my office and patients who seek care earlier on are much easier to manage and resolve than those who wait.

Bottom line here is that you need a proper examination of the spine to include postural, functional, orthopedic, and neurologic tests. Along with a history of the complaint, and imaging (x-ray/MRI) if indicated, these tests provide the doctor with the best working diagnosis of exactly what tissue(s) are causing your pain symptoms. These tissues include: muscle/tendons, fascia, disk, joint, ligaments, spinal cord and nerve roots, which can all be involved as pain generators.

Ask your family and friends for a referral to a trusted local chiropractic physician or physical medicine doctor and make an appointment to be evaluated. After the exam, the DC or MD can refer if a more specific orthopedic or neurological work up is needed.

There are many things you can do for back pain, but the primary thing you want to find out is what is causing the problem. Chiropractors are experts in searching for the cause of the problem and get that taken care of so you don't have to deal with back pain again. In my professional opinion I would go and get evaluated from a Chiropractor as soon as you can!

There are many nonsurgical solutions for back pain including chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, physical therapy and massage. Actually, I setup my practice uniquely to have all these services under one roof:www.pssmwellness.com You can use a TENS unit (transcutaneous electroneurostim) to help with the pain. Medications physicians use are typically a combination of NSAIDs like ibuprofen with a muscle relaxant. Lastly, there are injections to the spine that can be tried like epidural injections or trigger point injections. Typically, I would order an MRI if pain is not improved with conservative management in as little as 6 weeks. There are other medical causes for back pain as well including kidney stones and other's related to menstrual irregularities (such as back pain related to periods). Make sure your doctor first considers any medical causes of back pain in addition to straight spine causes of back pain
There are a few exercises that I give my patients to stabilize and strengthen their backs to avoid future episodes of back pain but I have not seen these work without a conservative course of a few chiropractic adjustments to get things moving pain free and address any other restrictions, imbalances and instabilities that may get in the way of your exercises working for you. Your chiropractor will be able to guide you through the shortest path to lasting relief.
Historically, many people have found relief with ART-A and KB-C from www.naturessunshine.ca or .com

They are inexpensive and usually fast acting.

The best place to start is proper evaluation and diagnosis. If the is a problem that has been going on for a while and is not getting better, you need a thorough medical exam that will likely include x-rays and lab work. If conservative treatments such as chiropractic and non-opiate medications are not effective, an MRI or other diagnostic studies may be indicated.
Many causes for such a problem. please seek a chiropractor's care or go to your doctor for an evaluation.

give your doctor more information, and a lot of it.
