4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

Hormones

I have had a host of symptoms for quite sometime. After my period I have severe fatigue, migraines, anxiety and depression which usually last about 2 weeks. I've had my hormones checked and my estrogen was <5 while on the depo shot for a few weeks. Is this normal? Also I supposedly have pcos but I'm doubting it because my periods are normal. Please help me!

It sounds like you might have Premenstual Dysmorphic Disorder, which causes the symptoms you describe. It is normal to have a low estrogen level while taking depoprovera. This may last 1-3 months after your last injection. As far as PCOS usually menses are not regular unless you have lost weight although metformin helps to regulate them. I would talk to your gynecologist about your concerns.

Hormonal 'problems' are far more complicated than just checking hormone levels, and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is a Complex variety of symptoms and requires the expertise of a Board Certified OBGYN or a Reorductive Endocrinologist to help you manage the many issues. I will comment that the Depo shot is good at preventing endometrial Cancer which is a risk with PCOS, but it can worsen some of the metabolic problems especially your weight. You should be seen frequently by a qualified provider.

It would be helpful if you mentioned in which phase your estrogen was measured, and which Estrogen you are referring to. There are three main types of estrogens: Estrone (E1), Estradiol (E2) and Estriol (E3). The major role player for the fertility cycle is E2, otherwise known as the "active" estrogen." Estrone (E1) plays role in obese women and is stored in the fat tissue, ready to be converted to active E2. Estriol (E3) is a metabolic waste formed in the liver and plays role only during the pregnancy. Assuming your E2 was measured, it is really low and may cause all the symptoms you mention: depression, migraine, anxiety, etc. Discuss with your Ob/Gyn about the rationale of continuing the Depo Provera. It is better to switch to the OCs.
