There are two nasal valves in the nose, one external and one internal. The external valve is composed of the nostril which is skin and cartilage. The internal valve is composed of cartilage and is the middle part of the nose. In a rhinoplasty or nose job, the external valve can be supported with alar rim grafts or lateral crural strut grafts. The internal valves can be expanded in a rhinoplasty or nose job with auto-spreader grafts of internal spreader grafts. These maneuvers in rhinoplasty or plastic surgery of the nose should help. Septoplasty and turbinate reduction can all help with the nasal airway.

Hopefully your prospective doctor will take some time, examine your nose carefully, examine the internal aspect of your nose. Most of the problems with breathing are very easily visible and can be explained to the patient. Then when surgery is done, there is a high likelihood you will get improved breathing.

My first response would be that you see the surgeon that performed your surgery. Also, specially with the nose, there can be prolonged swelling which could take several months to resolve.
That being said, a successful surgery on correctimg a narrowed nasal valve involves evaluation and treatment of the septum, bones in the nose called inferior turbinates, and widening of the midvault or middle third of the nose, usually with a cartilage graft. Incomplete evaluation or not or under correcting deformities in this area can result in persistent nasal obstruction of the internal valve.

Sometimes getting different opinions from experts who do not know all of the facts can complicate the issue. Sometimes, experts answer without a proper examination and render an opinion. Just because it is on the internet doesn't mean that it is factually correct. There is no substitute for a proper examination and consultation. One can not seek an opinion on "Dr. Google" about an outcome, nor can you go to medical school on Google.
