  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

Its best to ask your surgeon about this. In general, its best not to mix pain medication with alcohol. I would also wait until the antibiotics are done.

Responsible consumption of alcohol after plastic surgery for rhinoplasty is recommended when you are no longer taking pain medication and the nose is given a chance to heal, which is about 3 weeks.

Thank you for your inquiry. Once you have finished your course of antibiotics, you are free to resume alcohol consumption.
Drinking while on antibiotics is not recommended as it can take a toll on your liver regardless of surgery.

Sometimes, sulfa drugs give a disulfuram-like reaction. This means that if you are taking Bactrim, Augmentin, or ampicillin, for example, you may have an adverse reaction to your medications including redness, nausea, or vomiting. However, this reaction should not be present when antibiotics are ceased. It is not wise to mix pain medications with alcohol. However, with good judgement, you should be able to have drinks after meds have been stopped. Good luck!
There is no specific recommendation but it is best to ask your surgeon when you can have a drink. The prior responses bring a valid point, that it is not prudent to mix alcohol with medications especially narcotic pain medications as well as antibiotics.
I would wait until you are off all medications - pain and antibiotics. Agree with the other answers below.

A 2 weeks interval after surgery may be safe for a glass of vine or one drink. More excessive consumption may create late bleeding and swelling problems.

this is a good question to ask of your surgeon. In general, I do not recommend alcohol mixed with narcotics. This can potentiate the effects and cause more sedation. The other thing to think about is that you are more prone to vomiting after nasal surgery, narcotics can lead to nausea and vomiting, and alcohol can also lead to nausea and vomiting.

It's a common question so thanks for bringing it up .

-dehydration after rhinoplasty can make the recovery more Difficult

-alcohol in excess can lead to dehydration

- there are no hard and fast rules, but giving your body's the best chance to heal with a good diet and rest is ideal

- if you have an event and would like a drink- ask your surgeon first - but use in moderation only

Best wishes
