  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

Bloody discharge in early pregnancy

Hi, I'm a 30 year old female the 1st day of my last period was 04/25/2015 and I took a home pregnancy test which came back positive... Today I noticed blood tinged vaginal discharge and a little while ago I was having sharp pains right around where my scar from the c section I had 2 yrs ago is. The pain has subsided but I still have the discharge. I've been pregnant 6 times prior to this and never experienced this sort of thing... Is this something I should be alarmed about or is it normal?

Vaginal spotting and cramping early in a pregnancy is common but needs to be evaluated for possibility of an abnormality such as threatened miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. You need evaluation, labs and ultrasound.
You describe symptoms of threatening miscarriage. You are in the 7th week of gestation and a vaginal sonography (v. abdominal) would be more in determining your condition. If you plan to carry, don't take any medications until you see a doctor.
It's best for your obstetrician

to do an ultrasound and

find out for sure.
Ok, thank you for your help.
