Ever since high school biology, Dr. Anna Belous has been fascinated with the work of medical professionals. After taking a job at the Eastman Dental Center to help pay for college, she discovered that dentists were a lot like scientists who did some of her favorite research things — diagnose, treat and analyze results. 

What do you do?
I co-founded my own practice, Contemporary Dentistry in Brighton.

What kinds of challenges did you face early on?
When I moved to the United States from the Ukraine in 1991, I encountered a major language barrier. I spent one year at Monroe Community College with the first semester focused on English. The program there was quite helpful as it honed my language skills and helped me better grasp how things are done in this country.  Read the full interview here!
