The difference between Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus is the amount of cross linking in the hyaluronic acid which directly relates to the longevity and viscosity of the gel filler. Both are hyaluronic acid gel fillers which do have lidocaine in them. Juvederm Ultra Plus is more cross linked and is thicker (stiffer) and last longer. The Ultra Plus can last up to one year where the Ultra may last about 6 months. When injected into the lip for lip augmentation with equal volumes it would be hard to tell a difference, but the Juvederm Ultra will not last as long. For lip augmentation in the body of the lip, Juvederm Ultra Plus is optimal because of its thickness and ability to expand the lip. For fine lines around the lip, Juvederm Ultra works well because it is softer and can be injected close to the skin. It may be advantageous to use both when thinking about perioral rejuvenation because they have different indications around the lip area.

No I have not seen an appreciable difference between juvederm ultra and ultra plus. They both feel soft and look natural in the lip. I would not recommend Voluma in the lip.

Juvéderm® XC injectable gel is used to replenish areas of the face where facial lines and folds occur, as well as replenish volume for a more youthful appearance. It is part of the Allergen® family, which also produces Botox®, Juvéderm Voluma® XC, Latisse® and Skin Medica skin care products.

What is Juvéderm® XC?

Juvéderm XC is made from a compound that naturally occurs in the body, known as hyaluronic acid, which fills in the space between collagen and elastin fibers of the skin. As the skin ages, the presence of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid is reduced, creating a loss of volume in the skin, thus generating folds and wrinkles.

Juvéderm® XC is the only Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler FDA-approved to last up to one year with optimal treatment, and it was studied with all skin types. The unique manufacturing process uses HYLACROSS™ technology to provide a high concentration of cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid.

What areas can be treated with Juvéderm® XC?

Common areas of injection are:

Parenthesis (smile) lines (outer nose line/fold that travels downward on the face)

Corner lines (small downward line at the corner of the mouth)

Marionette lines (from the corner of the mouth downward toward the chin)

Lipstick lines (lines above the upper lip)

Upper and lower lip (for fullness)

It is slightly thicker and may feel slightly firmer or stiffer than Juvederm

Juvederm Ultra Plus is slightly more viscous than its predecessors. It is thicker, and takes slightly longer to reabsorb.

The difference is subtle, but it will last slightly longer than other fillers. Conversely, it must be used with caution by the provider. Small lumps or bumps require a more vigorous massage to maintain an even fill.

Good luck!!
yes, the juvederm ultraplus is the strongest filler (most crosslinked) and as good as Restylane filler for the lips; the other juvederm fillers do not last as long.

in my experience neither product is satisfactory in lip augmentation and as a result I do recommend the usage.

Jeuvederm Ultra Plus has a higher prime factor than Juvederm Ultra. the prime factor has to do with the thickness of the material and on a chemical level, the amount of cross linking. For filling fine lines around the lip you want something that is more forgiving and thinner, also for lip fullness the skill of the injector is very important as with muscle action thicker agents like Juvederm Ultra Plus may have more of a tendency for nodule formation. On the other hand Juvederm Ultraplus will last longer. Best advice, go to the most experience injector available, typically found in a plastic surgeon or dermatologist office. I do not like injecting lips. I prefer permanent implants. they look great and natural.

Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus are very similar. The "Plus" version is a bit more firm.
