4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

2 weeks ago I was coughing up a lot of blood. They thought maybe I had TB so they put me in isolation for 4 days and did a bunch of tests, and a bronchoscopy but everything came back fine. I did have a nodule/s on one of lungs that showed up on the CT scan so they diagnosed me with some weird strain of pneumonia but they still don't know why I coughed up so much blood. Any ideas? They said they'd never know

I had no symptoms, just coughing up large amounts of blood.

Good question, I would repeat the cxr in 3 mo, and get a cbc with a diff at that time, but it sounds like its involving a small bleeding vessel which has healed. Report future changes and go live your life!
John Brenner
Taking into account your history and the results of all the tests you had done I think you may have broken a small blood vessel in the pulmonary system that has subsequently healed. Have another chest x-ray 3 months later to be sure nothing has changed
Warren Wolfe
They are probably right "they may never know", however the likelihood that there is a fairly innocent explanation is as least as possible. The most common causes of coughing up blood "hemoptysis" are acute bronchitis, Pneumonia, trauma, foreign bodies, Neoplasia (tumors) TB, Pulmonary Embolus (blood clot to the lungs) , Vasculitis (inflammation of the blood vessels), Fungal balls or cardiovascular(likely in that same order). The best thing to do is to keep in contact with your PCP (primary care physician) and report/follow up any new signs or symtptoms.
Edwin Medina
Coughing up blood can be as simple as a blood vessel on the surface of your breathing tubes (bronchioles) bursting as a result of the coughing process. If the bleeding stopped then the blood vessel healed.
