Depression and the pill

I believe my birth control is causing depression and anxiety but without it my periods are highly irregular. I will skip months, bleed for a couple months straight, or have 2 week long periods with 5 days in between. Are there any options to controlling my periods that will not affect my mental health?

Many women have depression on the pill. I would recommend you try the Nuva Ring because the dose of hormone is less but will accomplish good cycle control. If you cannot tolerate the Nuva Ring, the Mirena IUD will help with your periods but will not help control the underlying ovarian problem that is causing the irregular cycles. Good luck.

Try Nuva Ring. This is a vaginal application, presumably has less side effects and works well. If still have problems, consider barrier contraception: condoms, diaphragm, etc.
