Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy

I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy 6 days ago. I'm back to normal activities now; however, I have experienced severe itching and burning since the surgery. Could it be a yeast infection, even though I do not have other symptoms, such as discharge.

I agree that your symptoms are likely to be a yeast infection. I would try the over-the-counter Monistat treatment first.

It is the least likely to cause further irritation or result in burning. You should notice a difference within a few days if it's working, but continue the therapy for the entire 7 days. If you still have persistent symptoms or if the symptoms are worsening, I would go get an exam.

Most patients that undergo the procedure you went through are sent home with antibiotics to prevent an infection. So more than likely it is a yeast infection. Use some suppositories of Monistat for a few days. The other possibility would be a reaction to the solution used to prepare the vagina before surgery. In that case some water and vinegar douche should solve the problem.

Yes it could be a yeast infection secondary to water irrigation during hysteroscopy. Either use over the counter antifungal vaginal cream or suppositories or consult your doctor.

Yes, it maybe a yeast problem possibly related to your surgery, especially if you receive some antibiotics around that time. Get yourself some OTC antifungal medication (Monistat, Mycolog, Terazol, etc.) and use it for 5-7 days. If you still have symptoms, see your Gyn. Surgeon.

Sometimes, the irration is from the prep that is common for pelvic procedures. The prep is usually chlorohexidine or betadine. Antihistamines may help ie benadryl, zyrtec, etc. If symptoms persist, please get checked for possible yeast or bacterial overgrowth.
