Hi, I was on birth control pills for 3 years and after 6 months being off them I started tracking my period. The last two cycles were 36 then 57 days. I haven't been overly stressed or lost weight or anything like that. I have a couple of female cousins with PCOS. Should I be worried?

Long cycle?

Were your cycles regular (monthly) prior to taking the birth control pills? If they were I suspect given more time your cycle will become monthly, however if they were not regular before taking the pill then you will revert back to whatever was "normal" for you. PCOS does run in families and is not difficult to diagnose. If you are worried make an appointment with an OB/Gyn he/she will be able to help you. Good luck.
This is not unusual after taking the Pills, especially if you did that for for longer than just a few months. Your ovaries need time to recover their normal, functional state. This may take months, sometimes longer! If that bothers you you may need to be seen by a gynecologist and have an endocrine w/u.
Hi there,
It can be PCOS. But there are other conditions that need to be ruled out. I suggest you get your hormonal profile and a trans vaginal ultrasound to identify the real cause. Really need to rule out thyroid disorders and other hormonal abnormalities causing anovulatory cycle.

I recommend you have these hormones checked: thyroid panel, dehydroepiandosterone sulfate, testosterone, prolactin. No need to worry. Even PCOS is curable if you are willing to do the work. :-)
