Can an orthodontist or dentist tell if my child is a candidate for Invisalign via pictures?

Wondering if I were to send pictures of her teeth/smile/mouth from several different angles - would this suffice? If so, what angles would be best?

Thank you for your question. Ideally, it would be best to have a certified dentist or orthodontist handle the Invisalign process completely, which does include several extraoral pictures at the first appointment. However, some cases are beyond the scope of Invisalign in which case your child would need conventional ortho with brackets, archwires, etc. Any pictures that you took and then submitted would more than likely only be useful in determining which method would be most beneficial to produce the best result.
How old is the patient?
Hi. I suppose if you were to send photos from all the different angles that the orthodontist/dentist needs to see, then we could give a fairly good guesstimate that your child would be a candidate for Invisalign. The next step however, would be to take all of the necessary x-rays in order to see how the teeth line up in the bone, and whether there are any other hidden factors in the bone that would exempt your child from Invisalign treatment. Generally speaking, most cases can be done with Invisalign these days. Best of luck in your search!!
It would be best to have your child see a dentist for a consultation. Most of the time a dentist can make the decision just by a quick exam. To be certain going into an office is the best option. If you are resident within our office area we would be happy to do a no charge consultation. Please call the office if your interested.
Hi there, Dr. Methven is our doctor who does invisalign but he doesnt' do it on kids. Usually 17yrs and older. The reason for this is the trays have to stay on all day and kids tend to forget to put them on. How old is your child? He would need to see patient personally for a consult. You are welcome to schedule the free consultation at your convenience.
It's possible, but the best thing to do is to set up an appointment with an orthodontist. There are plenty of wonderful orthodontists that provide free consultations.
