4 Reasons Why Ask DoctorBase is the Most Efficient Way to SEO and Establish Your Brand Online

  1. Ask DoctorBase is a free service for patients on the DoctorBase platform - currently servicing over 6 million American patients of record.
  2. All answers submitted by healthcare professionals (you) are for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute doctor-patient relationships. All patients must agree to this before using Ask DoctorBase.
  3. Our software and our Marketing Engineering staff review each answer and optimize your answers for keywords valuable to your specialty. It is a well kept secret that doctors (you) - not SEO consultants - are the ones who have the most valuable content prized by search engines. Ask DoctorBase "unlocks and optimizes" your content in the most efficient manner possible with today's technology.
  4. Finally, the doctor who provides the most popular answer - "the Featured Answer," gets an added benefit by allowing patients to write rave reviews about your expertise - reviews that are submitted to both Google and Google Local through our Preferred Data Provider relationship.

I recently took three EPT and they all came back positive. I then made a doctors appointment and she told me the urine test came back negative and to wait for my period. I got it on schedule and now am confused as to whether I'm pregnant, miscarried, or all three test were wrong?

Dear EP,

The home pregnancy tests on the market now are highly accurate (reported at 95-97% accurate from most sources) as they measure for HCG, which is present after implantation. Repeating the test with similar results is about as accurate as it gets.

However, about 20-25% of all pregnancies end up being what is known as a "chemical pregnancy", also known as an early miscarriage. A "chemical pregnancy" happens when a pregnancy is lost shortly after implantation. This is different than a "clinical pregnancy" which can be confirmed on an ultrasound with the presence of a gestational sac.

With the advancement in sensitivity of the home pregnancy tests on the market today, women are able to detect pregnancy in the very, very early stages. The downside of the super sensitive pregnancy tests is that you can check for the pregnancy very early on, followed by an early miscarrige that results an essentially normal appearing period, or maybe a late period.

The fact that your urine test at the MD's office was negative is another indication that you probably were pregnant for a very short time with implantation and then a spontaneous miscarriage. This is why your doc told you to wait for the period before looking at other avenues. OB'GYN's and primary care MD's see these things fairly frequently and they understand what is happening. As a chiropractor, I actually get this question more frequently that I ever would have thought in my practice too.

What I recommend, is that if you are trying to get pregnant, wait until after you have missed a period before taking these tests, as they can bring heartbreak when you are trying to conceive, get a positive result, and then follow-up with either a negative home test or a negative result in your docs office. If you are not trying to get pregnant please practice safe sex techniques such as condom usage to cut down on sexually transmitted diseases, and/or discuss more longer lasting options with your OB/GYN, such as oral birth control, or implants.

Hope this helps your understanding.
