How long does it take for sensitive teeth toothpaste to start working?
I went through one tube of sensodyne, but I haven't really noticed any less sensitivity to cold drinks, ice cream, etc.

Sensitivity can be because of many reasons. If your self prescribed treatment hasn't helped, then perhaps it's time to seek professional assistance at least a professional evaluation of the etiology of the sensitivity that you are experiencing. It would be in your interest to seek that evaluation sooner than later as in case there is a serious condition that might worsen with time if undiagnosed and untreated. There are many sensodyne products on the market. The best one to use for sensitivity is Sensodyne PROENAMEL. Avoid tooth whitening and foods containing acids, including wine. It could also be caused by tooth grinding. So if all else fails, purchase an over the counter Night Guard (Dr's Night Guard) or consult a Dentist.
Sensitivity from gums and teeth will not always be resolved by simple using a desensitizing tooth paste.
Check with your Dr. You may an undiagnosed underlying condition.
Parienta with good oral health do not experience sensitivity unless they have a dental history of periodontal work or orthodontics
That may have exposed dentin in cervical areas or roots.

It typically takes between 14 1nd 16 days to start to notice the Sensodyne is working. It also helps if you don't rinse your mouth with water after brushing and rub a little on the affected tooth before bed. If the tooth is still a problem go back to your dentist, it could be something as simple as a bite adjustment. Please don't wait, you could hurt the tooth if you do.
typically 10-14 days, for maximum benefit to be obtained; if unresolved or if not diminished to the individual's satisfaction by then, further examination as to possible causes & possible treatment for such persistent sensitivity should be conducted by your dentist.
This could be a difficult one to give a direct answer on without a little more information. There are many things that can cause sensitivity in teeth and Sensodyne is only a recommended treatment for one particular issue. Typically we us it to treat moderate dentin exposure, and for this 3-4 weeks of using the Sensodyne should be enough. I would recommend a consult with a dentist to determine the cause of the tooth sensitivity, and a more effective treatment plan that would work to correct the cause. After all, we dont want you to stop enjoying a great ice cream treat!
