I have had on and off pain in my right pelvic area that sometimes goes around my side into my lower back. It started about a month ago very dull and only once in a while. It just recently got worse only when I had sex. Then for 4 days It was sharp pain all day and now it's just back to dull pain once in a while, and still have some pain when we have sex. Do I need to see someone about this?

Do I have an ovarian cyst?
An ovarian cyst is likely if this is the only thing that brings on the pain. Pay attention to other things that may be causing the pain, but don't waste time, go and see your OBGYN. If there's no cyst, it may a musculoskeletal pain, and you should make an appointment to see a chiropractor.
Detailed blood work would be my first step towards identifying your risk factors for cyst formation. A functional analysis of the right tests can tell you a lot about the underlying physiology. Birth control can mess with hormone production and can lead to some complications. It would be hard to say exactly what's causing your pain without a detailed evaluation.
See your gynecologist first. If you are cleared there, then see a chiropractor.
It could justbe muscular. See a good chiropractic physician and have a few treatments. If it does not help see you OB/GYN specialist and get an ultrasound of your pelvis.
It can be an ovarian cyst and you can rule that out by having a pelvic ultrasound or other diagnostic test. However, if you don't have a cyst then it is probably a combination of your pelvic alignment , your lower back vertebrae, and the muscles surrounding both of them. A good chiropractic exam would help diagnose if this is the case.
It could be a cyst and it would be a good idea to get this evaluated via ultrasound. Keep in mind that the only solutions most medical doctors have is drugs. I find that the birth control pill is recommended but does not help you get healthier--it just gives you more hormones that give you more problems. Be sure to cut out sugar from your diet because sugar makes it harder for your liver to get rid of hormones, which is why it makes PMS worse. I would also make sure not to drink milk (though small amounts of dairy in food should not be a problem) because milk increases testosterone and testosterone makes it harder to get pregnant. I also recommend women take 2 TBSP of GROUND flax seeds from the new moon to the full moon daily to support estrogen, and then 2 TBSP of ground chia seeds from the full moon to the new moon to support progesterone. There is SO much you can do to support normal hormone function and GET RID of the cyst, whereas the medical model is to wait for it to get worse and then do a hysterectomy or manage it with drugs until menopause. That's unnecessary in my experience. I love a product called MYOMIN, which you can get on Amazon. I have clients start with 3 caps 2 times daily for 6 months.
Go see your OB/GYN to rule out the worse. If you are cleared of pathology then go see your chiropractor.
