Sleeplessness and Extreme Daytime Fatigue

At night I find it difficult to fall asleep without some sort of sleep aid. Even when I do get decent sleep at night, which is rare, I feel so fatigued and weak during the day. It's to the point where I can't even keep my eyes open and I feel my self nodding off. I do have extreme depression, anxiety, and ocd and are medications for it. Also, I probably do not eat like I should with balanced meals and such.

Your sleep problems are most likely related to inadequate treatment of your anxiety and/or depression. Note your on Zoloft as the only treatment for these. A higher dose or a different medication should be considered. I guess the sleep aid you are using is OTC and a prescription med should be considered for a short treatment of your insomnia. If you are obese and/or snore loudly you may need to be checked for sleep apnea. These issues should be discussed with your doctor. Hope you are able to get help with your problems.

You need to focus less on medication and more on lifestyle...diet and exercise...vigorous exercise and a basic simple diet will work wonders for your sleeping...We should be able to do better than just give you a pill for your stress and ocd....I would look into cognitive behavioral therapy...or look into a device like the alpha stim ...good luck
You are dehydrated and need to increase your daily alkaline water intake to l quart per 50 pounds of weight. As you increase you hydration you will increase your circulation. You have to circulate to percolate.
Make an appointment to visit your personal Physician!! GOD Bless.....Thanx....OK??!!!
You are probably suffering from suffering from exhaustion which is causing your body to feel run down. You may want to try taking an iron supplement, multi-vitamin and B12 for symptoms of fatigue. As far as sleeplessness goes melatonin, passion flower tincture or chamomile tea may provide relief. Rhodiola herb may also help your anxiety, depression and OCD issues.

An overnight sleep study diagnosed by a boarded sleep medicine specialist is the place to start this "journey of discovery".

I would check on having a sleep study done. First though you need a good physical to see if anything else is going on in your body. You should not be having these isses at your age. If you cannot affird a doctors visit, try a free clinic in your area. You definitely have some issues going on.
Sleep aids whether prescription or over the counter are really temporary solutions and generally do not solve the problem and tend to have worse long term results. Insomnia is one symptom of depression and your sleep problem may indicate that your depression isn't adequately treated. In addition to considering medication changes consider making changes in your lifestyle, such as improving your diet, exercising more, and addressing stressors in your life that may be worsening depression. If you find that your bedtime is getting later and later talk to your doctor about ways to work on that. As mentioned, sleep apnea could also be a problem if you are overweight or snore loudly. Keep your bedroom dark, get electronics out of the bedroom, work on establishing a sleep schedule, and avoid doing schoolwork or stressful things in your bedroom so that the bedroom is more specifically a place for sleep.
While there are many good answers here I suggest starting with having your doctor order a sleep study to check for sleep apnea. Although more usual for those who are obese and snore to also have sleep apnea, it is not a must situation. Depending on the results of the sleep study, you may be set up with a CPAP machine. If after several months you are not seeing improvement with the day time sleepiness, fatigue, and extreme depression I would recommend you continue to look further into the other suggested solutions posted here. Sleep is highly restorative.
