Rectal bleeding

For the past 6 months or so off and on I have had rectal bleeding. My GYN said I had internal hemroids , it just seems like it's lasting way to long for that. It's bright red blood and mostly diareah . Scared to death it's colon cancer. Never had a colonoscopy ... I'm 55 year old female just going through menapaise.

You need a colonoscopy. What you find out can be no worse than what you fear, and it just might be better.
The best approach is to start with Colonoscopy, then have the source of bleeding be brought under control. Your Ob-Gyn doctor can refer you to a competent Gastroenterology specialist

or to a Proctologist.
See a GI doctor and get your colonoscopy to find out why. It is not normal that you continue to have these symptoms. Rectal bleeding can be caused by many other things rather than just cancer. A colonoscopy is usually done under anesthesia and you don't feel any pain, so don't be scared! Good Luck!
Get the colonoscopy and get your answer.

You should absolutely have a colonoscopy. The bleeding and diarrhea could be from a multitude of sources. It could be a polyp, inflammatory bowel disease, hemorrhoids, or cancer. Current guidelines recommend a screening colonoscopy by your age. I would strongly recommend seeing a gastroenterologist.
I am not sure why you would avoid colonoscopy esp since you are 55. You do not need to worry , as there can be many causes of this bleeding, however, COLONOSCOPY is the best way to get your answers!
At 55 years old you should have had your first colonoscopy five years ago. I would get a colonosscopy as fast as you can, in fact call your GYN and see if she/he can make a call to get it scheduled sooner. Good luck.
You are right to be concerned, and should have a colonoscopy ASAP. Even if you have bleeding hemorrhoids, a colonoscopy is CRUCIAL to make sure nothing else is going on. (even without bleeding, the standard recommendation is for screening colonoscopy by age 50!)

With your symptoms, this is more urgent. Don't delay!

Rectal bleeding should never be ignored or dismissed to a minor cause such as hemorrhoids without an examination. Since you are over 50, you should have a colonoscopy for screening purposes irregardless of the bleeding issue. Now that bleeding is occurring, a colonoscopy is the best diagnostic tool. Also, if hemorrhoidal disease is identified to be the cause of the bleeding, definitive treatment of the hemorrhoids with banding is offered by some specialists.

If you are very concerned, you could ask your dr to prescribe a colonoscopy to find out.
