Skipped Placebo Week on Birth Control

About a month ago I skipped my placebo pill week and went straight into the next pack. Could that have an affect on my next period being really light and spotty when it's usually similar to a normal one?

Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) are available in various formulations or dosing parameters. It is important to take the pills that you are prescribed correctly. Some pills have a pill-free interval, while others may substitute an inactive substance (placebo) or vitamin(s). Some formulations use 21 days of active pills, others use 24 days of active tablets and there are formulas and dosing parameters that use only active pills without a pill-free or placebo interval. Skipping the pill-free or placebo interval altogether by going directly to the next pack of active pills results in a very thin atrophic endometrium (the inner lining of your uterus becomes thinner) and therefore your next period will probably be lighter after doing this.

This is usually due to skipping the placebo pills.

Yes. Oral Contraceptive thin the lining of your uterus. The longer you take them without a break, the thinner the lining,

but its ok to skip the placebo week for a cycle. if you do it for more than 3 packs at a time, you can expect more problems with "breakthrough" bleeding, which happens when the lining gets too thin.

While it should delay the onset of your next period until you're on the fake pills or the week off them; sometimes breakthrough bleeding may happen. This doesn't meant the pill is not working as a contraceptive and it will usually stop.
Continuous use of birth control pill is safe and effective. It has been shown to decrease the amount of bleeding when you do have a cycle. It has also been shown to have no increase risk for pre cancer or cancer. The continuous birth control pill continues to make your uterine planning thinner. Once you do have a period is thinner than it normally is if you wanted to eliminate your periods all together you can continue to the hills and starting a new pack. There are some formulations that allow you to use continuous birth control pills for 3 months. Ask your gynecologist for his/er recommendations.s recommendations.
