I see a lot of ads for both Restylane and Juvederm. Is one better than the other, and are either of them effective for treating the parentheses lines I have around my mouth?

I am a 42 year old caucasian woman with fair skin, no known allergies or rosacea issues.

Both are safe, yet temporary products that can soften the appearance of your lines. Visit a local specialist (Facial Plastic or Dermatologist) who can examine your skin and explore other options which can help you keep more of your own collagen.
Both can be effective for treating the peri-oral (around the mouth) lines that concern you. Know that the effect will last 4-6 months, sometimes longer. Given the similarity of these products, the skill of the injector will determine your results, not the specific product used. Good luck.
These are both great products to soften the nasolabial folds (the parentheses lines around your mouth). I often prefer a thicker product for deeper folds - either Perlane or Juvederm Ultra Plus. These both now come pre-mixed with lidocaine for a more comfortable patient experience. Some patients may also benefit from adding volume to the cheeks as well. By volumizing the cheek, you also get softening of the nasolabial folds and a youthful, natural look.
Restylane and Juvederm are clinically equivalent. Either Restylane or Juvederm are the treatment of choice for the parentheses lines that you speak of. Side effects are possible bruising and/or swelling for up to several days or more. Avoid blood thinners as recommended by your doctor prior to treatment to minimize side effects. Results last from 6 months to 2 years. Good luck.
Hi! Thank you for your question. Both products are FDA approved
hyralurnic acid fillers and both are safe, effective and typically
last around 6-10 months. However, it seems like Restylane seems to
work better around the eyelids and Juvederm works best for nasolabial
folds. In the end, they are both great products and it simply comes
down to the personal preference of the patient. Good Luck! Dr. Sam

Restylane and juvederm are hyaluronic acid fillers. The main protein component of skin is collagen. The main non protein component of skin is hyaluronic acid. Restylane has a lower concentration of hyaluronic acid and is not bound to itself as tightly as juvederm, therefore it doesn't last as long as juvederm. The products work very well in specific areas and I prefer restylane around the eyes, brows and temples. Juvederm is great for nasolabial folds, lip and prejowl augmentation. I hope this was helpful.
