Should I be getting any other tests regularly, if I am generally in good health?

A Pap smear is done to determine if your cervix has any precancerous or cancerous cells. It will also tell if you have an infection with HPV. The virus that causes cervical cancer. Often the Pap smear will be normal, but one of the high risk viruses will be present. In this case, more frequent Pap smears and other testing might be advised. Most patient's immune system overcome the HPV infection, but not always; so, you must be diligent to follow your doctor's suggestions about when to have further testing. If you ever developed precancerous cells, the treatment is highly successful and usually doesn't impact your fertility.
