First of all, I am definitely pro vaccine. This was just a concern that I have. Is the Varicella vaccine necessary? Chicken pox was something every child used to get, including all of us, with only a handful of severe cases in the U.S. Since the vaccine will eventually wear off and many adults don't keep up with vaccinations, isn't there a greater risk of getting chicken pox in adulthood where it is much more fatal? Wouldn't it be better to just get the chicken pox?

Chicken pox, the disease has many complications including encephalitis, hepatitis, and pneumonia. Plus, the virus stays inside your body your entire life and comes out during stressful times as shingles.
By receiving the chicken pox vaccine, we can prevent all these complications. It is a series of 2 vaccines which should confer lifelong protection.
