Roger Kao, MD Office Information

Agree wtih Dr. Plumser. The symptoms and labs may suggest the presence of inflammatory bowel disease. Again, when was your last colonoscopy. If it has been >3 years, then you have have a repeat exam and make sure the terminal ileum is examined. If normal, then you may want to have some type of imaging done (CT or MR enterography) which looks at that small intestine since Crohn's disease may only involve the small intestine. You may also have concurrent IBS but with IBS alone, you shouldnt have an elevated fecal calprotectin. Make sure to follow up with your gastroenterologist. If he/she tells you everything is due to IBS, then get a 2nd opinion.
