For months it was sensitive but went away. Filling close to root. Recently been experiencing cold/hot sensitivity and dull ache. After great responses on here went to Dr. and took X-Ray. No crack, decay, or infection. Struck the tooth had me bite and no pain. Blew air on it and lil sensitive for a moment. Checked filling, okay. Used endo ice, brief sensitivity. Doctor Said grinding teeth,use prevident, wear guard. Might need RCT later but not now, sound right?

I would agree with your dentist's thorough evaluation and opinion. Although clearly symptomatic, it may not necessarily be ready for root canal therapy just yet. I would not rule that out, though, as a future possibility. Nerve tissue may slowly die over time. Symptoms and signs then will become more prevalent and not associated with stimuli,, but rather will become spontaneous.

Maintain a non-shocking diet and monitor the tooth regularly. You and your dentist will know when it becomes time to consider the endodontic therapy ( root canal treatment ).
