"I am a senior health care expert in TQM therefore my assessment of your office is personal as well as professional. I found your front office staff meeting patients is not adequately trained. Their attitude towards patients and knowledge about important matters like Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C) is very poor. They are young and inexperienced and lacked supervision. Telling a patient we don't take this insurance because we are ignorant about the health care insurance business is a wrong decision. Such assessment and decision making should be made by financial person or a manager but someone who has just finished high school taking instantaneous decision indicates that management is indifferent about very basic issue called welcoming a patient. Your PA staff on the other hand was excellent and showed professional attitude. Not getting care in spite of having Medicare/Medicaid is not only a cause for CMS coming down to your office, it is not good for patient satisfaction counts under ACA.
The other difficulty I found was reaching a care givers by phone. Your calls go to front office and you get placed on a hold. There is a telephone-commercial that runs until the front office staff returns and answers the phone. When one needs a doctor or a PA; one is annoyed by the sells pitch and that is not a positive image for a Clinical practice it sounds like Hyundai Used Car Lot to a person seeking medical assistance. It is better to keep that out and leave a voice mail box for prescription or consulting managers to call patient back. There are better ways to advertise than this and same thing goes for Answering Services you use. I would immediately ask the answering service company to eliminate that pitch because they do not advertise your practice but make money by marketing advertisement services for their other clients. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell you about my frustrations." -
