"When Paige Briggs was born, the fingers of her left hand were webbed together. Surgery is correcting the unusual condition."

"Paige was born with a condition called syndactyly. The fingers and thumb on her left hand were webbed together. The hand also has two index fingers that are fused together. Through surgery, however, most of Paige's fingers have been separated. In future procedures, one of the two index fingers will be removed."

"Dr. Amit Mitra, chief of plastic surgery at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, and director of the Congenital Hand Surgery Center, said that these cases aren't that rare. He works with about 90 children a year with similar hand conditions."
