Sorry to learn of your discomfort. The need to have a crown placed on the tooth typically indicates the tooth has had previous treatment and the previous restoration or the tooth itself has continued to deteriorate requiring a crown to restore the original shape of the tooth to allow proper function.
In your case the tissue inside the tooth that is a combination of nerves and blood vessels has become infected.
You will need root canal treatment to eliminate the infection and save the tooth.
Sometimes if the bite is adjusted symptoms can stop, but not in this case. Trying to do an adjustment first can be appropriate.
