Q: What got you into this specific medical field?
A: The day I delivered my first baby I was hooked! I also enjoy taking care of women through different phases of their lives.
 
Q: What landed you in your city, and what is it that you like about the neighborhood?
A: My husband was offered a job in San Antonio during my last year of undergraduate studies. I was accepted to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and have been here ever since. San Antonio is a big city with a small town feel.
 
Q: Where did you receive your undergraduate and professional degrees, and did you participate in any residencies?
A: I received my undergraduate from the University of California San Diego. I received my medical degree and completed a residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.
 
Q: Do you belong to any professional associations?
A: Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Bexar County Medical Society, American Association of Bariatric Medicine, Institute of Functional Medicine, American Society of Nutrition.

A: 1992
 
Q: What investments in your practice equipment and facilities have you made?
A: We are currently practicing in an office connected to Stone Oak Methodist Hospital which has the latest in Obstetrical and Gynecologic services for women. We offer urodynamic testing for incontinence, 3-D ultrasounds, in-office procedures for sterilization or abnormal bleeding with an in-house board certified Anesthesiologist. We offer First Line Therapy, a wellness disease prevention and weight loss program, along with the services of an in house Nutritionist and bioimpedance analysis. Bioimpedance analysis is a simple noninvasive procedure which allows measurement of body composition—a person's percent lean muscle and body fat. We have introduced an environment of relaxation for our patients through the use of music and visual imagery.
 
Q: What procedures do you feel your practice excels in above others?
A: Robotic surgery, office procedures, routine and high risk Obstetrics, same day urgent appointments with one of our Physicians or Physician Assistants, stress reduction mind-body skills and an individualized integrative approach to prevention and weight loss.
 
Q: What are your office hours?
A: Monday - Friday: 8:30 - 5:30 with lunch 12:30 - 1:30 and Gyn appointments on one Saturday a month.
 
Q: What HMO or PPO providers are you in network with? Do you offer financing?
A: We offer individual payment plans and also are contracted with most PPO insurance plans and some HMO plans. Please contact our office for details.
 
Q: Do you accept any government programs or discount cards?
A: We participate in Medicare.
 
Q: What are the most challenging parts of your everyday practice?
A: The business side of medicine required to keep an office open for our patients, the increasing involvement of government regulations and decreasing reimbursements from insurance companies.
 
Q: What are the best moments that make it worthwhile?
A: Helping a couple through a pregnancy and being present the moment that baby is handed into their arms and seeing the joy present, providing tools to help someone change their lifestyle which leads to weight loss and a means to a healthier and longer life. The relationships that have developed by being involved and caring for my patients and the gratitude received from this relationship. I am grateful for my chosen profession.
