Without seeing the photo, my sense is that your self diagnosis of chalazion is probably correct. However, there is always a chance that this could be a cellulitis which could spread to your brain. A chalazion usually is the aftermath of a burned out hordeolum or "style". It is not serious and is generally slow to resolve. Warm wet compresses are appropriate for treatment. If that does not do the trick, surgery will solve the problem. An Oculoplastic Surgeon is the right person to take this to. Good luck!
