Q: What got you into this specific medical field?
A: We became doctors of chiropractic because we believe that:
+ the natural process of healing is best supported through natural means
+ these natural means are represented by the techniques and services offered through chiropractic training and the implementation of known health promoting lifestyle and dietary practices
+ we have witnessed firsthand the recuperative powers of the body when assisted through the gentle rebalancing methods of chiropractic and myofascial techniques

Q: What landed you in your city, and what is it that you like about the neighborhood?
A: Minnetonka is a beautiful blend of urban progress and suburban charm. We have many natural areas for balancing the bustle of the business areas. Most neighborhoods have larger lots, well treed and not too close together, yet conducive to neighborly interaction. Our school district is noted for its top notch teachers and student performance.

Q: Where did you receive your undergraduate and professional degrees, and did you participate in any residencies?
A: Dr. Sharon Levin is a 1995 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota.  She holds a bachelor's degree in human biology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, both from NWCC. Dr. Nels Chellen is a 1996 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota.  Besides a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, he holds bachelor's degrees in psychology and elementary education.  Before chiropractic school he worked as a child care counselor in Minneapolis and an elementary school teacher in Orono.

Q: What year did you begin practicing?
A: Dr. Sharon Levin began practice in 1995. Dr. Nels Chellen began practice in 1996.

Q: Do you belong to any professional associations?
A: Dr. Levin is a member of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association

Q: What procedures do you feel your practice excels in above others?
A: First of all, we are chiropractors and that is our specialty.  Therefore we provide spinal realignments using skillful adjusting techniques to fit the needs of our varied patient population.  We also have a variety of additional services which either assist the realignment issues or that are related to addressing the many other health issues people come to see us for. We provide full-spine, gentle chiropractic adjusting using one or a combination of techniques.  Both doctors are Advanced Proficiency Rated in Activator technique.  While many of our patients prefer this technique to manually applied adjusting techniques, both are completely safe, gentle, and effective because of our great care and sensitivity to our patient’s needs.  We have provided care for every size and every age of person over the years of our practice. Similar to AK (applied kinesiology), we use a system of body response testing using leg length response to help determine the need for the adjustment at any given area (level of the spine or for an extremity such as ribs, shoulders, knees, and feet).  We may also choose to use other techniques depending on an individual’s needs or preferences.  We receive many appreciative comments from our patients regarding our gentle adjusting style! Our treatments include the use of advanced hands-on soft tissue/ muscle and fascial techniques to address those components of your condition as well. Dysfunction and imbalances don’t just happen in the joints, but are very often in the muscles and other connective tissues. A thorough treatment should include attention here as well as to your frame. These soft tissue techniques are commonly known as:
+ neuromuscular therapy

+ myofascial release therapy

+ active release therapy

+ trigger point therapy

Our typical session is about 30 minutes long and may include instruction in personal care on topics such as posture, stretching, strengthening, and nutritional aspects of health as they pertain to your condition.

Q: What are the most challenging parts of your everyday practice?
A: Honestly, the most challenging parts of practice are in regard to the behind the scenes running of a business. We are trained clinicians, not MBAs. Our first love is helping people regain comfort and function. Thankfully their are good support people who can help us with the business aspects.

Q: What are the best moments that make it worthwhile?
A: The best moments of our practice are the smiles and the "thank you"s we receive when our patients tell us how much better they are doing after what many times are just a few treatments. These shows of appreciation also appear in the form of many referrals to friends, family, and co-workers who have been entrusted to us for the same quality care they received. Please see our website Testimonials page for examples of feedback we have received.

Q: What are your office hours?
A: We are available Monday through Saturday mornings. Sorry, we are not a walk-in facility. However, we are very flexible in our offerings of appointment times to you!  Often, we can get you in the same day you call or within a day.  Also, we may be able to accommodate an early morning or an evening appointment. Once you are established as a patient and have a chart, we are able to accommodate you that much more easily. On occasion we may take time off to attend a continuing education seminar, or for personal time. Please be assured that we care about your needs!  We receive our messages regularly and will return your call as soon as it is possible for us. We will schedule your treatment as quickly as we can.
