I have heard mixed reviews on the necessity of removing wisdom teeth. Mine are not impacted or hurting. My orthodontist said I could remove them. I do not want unnecessary surgery if I donât have to.
Some people have enough space to accommodate their Wisdom Teeth. Wisdom teeth are nothing more than a third set of molars. In some situations, they are fully utilized in chewing and do not present a problem. However, the majority of people do not have enough space for their third molars. So, when they begin to erupt, they may cause the teeth to shift leading to crowding. When they are impacted, they can push up against the roots of the other teeth and cause decay and infection. This is the worst case scenario. If your teeth are erupted and not causing crowding then there is no real reason to have them removed.
