Post-op pain

I had a laparoscopic left inguinal hernia repair with mesh exactly three weeks ago. I am having a lot of pressure in my left pelvic area and I have this dull nagging throbbing pain in my left flank. I am even having problems bearing down to have a bowel movement due to the pressure I am feeling. Is this normal?

This is not a typical complaint 3 weeks after surgery for an inguinal hernia, but that does not mean it is abnormal. If one of my patients complained of this, I would ask them to come into the office to be checked. I would recommend a follow up visit with your surgeon.
