My big toe has been red for a few weeks now. It started off as an itchy bump I think, and now it's red on the inside of the toe and beneath the nail. I went to the doctor and got a prescription and was told to soak in Epsom salt. After finishing the prescription, the right inside of my toe started itching and it was red. I've been soaking in warm epsom salt and put tea tree oil on it but don't know what to do. It doesn't hurt.

A picture would really help in this case. Sounds like you may need to have the nail removed or a part of it. You may have a mixed picture of a bacterial and fungal infection which if it is the case both need to be addressed. Make sure you follow up with your doctor so he/she can stage treatments to insure your success.
