Severe left shulder pain ovr 4 weeks

Doctor, need some advise. I am experiencing some pretty severe left shoulder pain. This pain has been going on for around 3-4 weeks. I'm using over the counter Advil with no relief. It's right on top of my left shoulder and radiates down my back about 3 or 4 inches.man I am telling you this is driving me nuts. My sister is a RN she said to me that the area is hard as a rock to the touch. Its a Saturday. I am a Veteran and I normally go to Jesse Brown VA in Chicago, IL.

This could be a few different things, without having you in person and getting more history it is not possible to say exactly what is going on. It could be as simple as your Levator Scapulae muscle being hyper-tonic, which can occur from spinal issues in the neck. You should seek a chiropractor or Osteopath that will look at it from a musculoskeletal view and do some soft tissue and spinal work with you, rather than just getting painkillers and muscle relaxers, though they may be needed as well to help you deal with the pain.
