Do I need to take out impacted wisdom teeth?
Anonymous Patient
The decision to have impacted wisdom teeth removed is based on several factors.
- If there is a history of pain, swelling, or soreness.
- if orthodontic treatment outcome is affected
-history of periodontal disease. If impacted teeth are partially erupted, the angle at which the teeth lay may create areas for bacteria to thrive
However if the wisdom teeth are impacted but cause no pain or discomfort and patient has history of good oral hygiene, then there is little reason to have them removed.
