Post-op pain

I had a laparoscopic left inguinal hernia repair with mesh exactly three weeks ago. I am having a lot of pressure in my left pelvic area and I have this dull nagging throbbing pain in my left flank. I am even having problems bearing down to have a bowel movement due to the pressure I am feeling. Is this normal?
