Directions

For several years I've been having these random pains in my sides. They hit randomly and are very sharp. They only last for maybe 5 minutes or so, but they knock the wind out of me. When the pain hits, it's either on my left side or right side. On the left side the pain is in one area, and on the right side the pain is in a different area. Any advice?

These are most likely gas bubbles in your colon. They can be very sharp and painful and have sent folks to the hospital. It is generally nothing to be terribly concerned about other than you may want to consider a healthier diet or possibly eliminating foods that are causing the excess gas. Finding out which foods are affecting you can be tricky. They are often foods that cause gas such as onions, cabbage, etc...
