Q: What got you into this specific medical field?
A: At 16 I was testing for Johns Hopkins Medical School, already had three surgeries and was on five prescriptions. Went to an Upper Cervical Chiropractor and within three months was off all medications and in the thirty years since have not even needed an aspirin. It took ten years of additional post graduate work to become one of twelve advanced certified instructors of this Upper Cervical Chiropractic technique in the world.

Q: What landed you in your city, and what is it that you like about the neighborhood?
A: It was by accident. I was consulting with a very successful chiropractor in New Jersey when one of his patients caught my eye. We casually dated but she moved to California. I eventually followed her out here and had to repeat school to get a California license. We joke that I am either committed or should be.

Q: Where did you receive your undergraduate and professional degrees, and did you participate in any residencies?
A: First Doctor of Chiropractic from Sherman College, second Doctor of Chiropractic from Southern California University of Health Sciences.

Q: What year did you begin practicing?
A: I started practice in 1991.

Q: Do you belong to any professional associations?
A: Blair Chiropractic Society

Q: What investments in your practice equipment and facilities have you made?
A: In our practice we use Digital Infra-Red Thermography on every visit to determine how well you are handling stress in real time. We are one of the few facilities in America with a Non-invasive Total Body Scan, this was developed by a French Neurologist and is an absolutely amazing piece of technology that with a good level of accuracy can determine some brain chemistry balances, some heart functions, some digestive functions, some immune functions, body composition, some hormone levels and while not diagnostic for disease it is an excellent tool to monitor progress of any health program. We only use digital x-ray, when necessary and occasionally use Surface EMG and Digital Range of Motion studies for our injury cases.

Q: What procedures do you feel your practice excels in above others?
A: With over twenty years of Upper Cervical Chiropractic experience Dr. Thomas Polucki is one of twelve advanced instructors in the world certified to teach other doctors. The advanced neuro-muscular and postural rehabilitation program produces transformational results. The Functional Diagnostic Nutrition protocols allow us to accurately test for and functionally restore digestive and hormonal problems that elude most other methods. Our Metabolic Typing program eliminates the guesswork on dieting and supplements permanently. Our free workshops on Learning Basic Acupressure, Fat Burning Secrets, Roll Away Pain (advanced foam rolling), No Excuses Transformation (exercise) and Bio-identical Hormone Solutions have received overwhelmingly positive reviews from participants.

Q: What are the most challenging parts of your everyday practice?
A: It is still a challenge for many in the public to accept all that chiropractic has to offer. It is easier for most people to believe chiropractic equals crack your bad back. This is sad and the challenge is to find the people who are open to the possibility that there could be more.

Q: What are the best moments that make it worthwhile?
A: When that new mother hands over her baby to be checked on the way home from delivery. When that patient is carried in and walks out. When I get cookies from the Grandma that can bake again. When someone sleeps through the night for the first time, ever. When someone straightens up after that first treatment. when I get a call from one of my tele-medicine clients telling me that they haven't felt this alive in fifteen years. It makes all of those extra years of study, all those missed social occasions, all the time away from my amazing and understanding wife worth it.

Q: What are your office hours?
A: Monday through Thursday from 3pm to 7pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 1pm.

Q: What HMO or PPO providers are you in network with? Do you offer financing?
A: We are a provider for Blue Shield. Most of our patients take advantage of our in-house financing.

Q: Do you accept any government programs or discount cards?
A: We accept Medicare. Medicare Rules Apply.
