Hi, I had a label repair surgery 5 weeks ago. I was out of the sling and accidently lifted something that weighed like 40 pounds with both arms. I think I might have damaged the surgery. How long until I can get an MRI to confirm?
Usually after a labral repair in the shoulder the labrum is not completely healed after 5 weeks from surgery. It certainly is weaker and more prone to injury. It would also depend on where on your glenoid the labrum it was repaired. If you had a SLAP repair then heavy lifting would definitely stress that repair considerably. Make an appointment with your surgeon and let him know what happened.
