Sometimes diagnosis can be tricky and frustrating especially for the patient, It's always important for you to trust the Dr who is treating. There are times when there is no straight forward answer. Unless the doctor has successfully treated a patient with your exact symptoms. I agree that you should not finalize the restoration on this tooth until they figure out what is causing the sensation. I had a patient who had a root canal done and then he complained about similar symptoms, My endodontist retreated the root canal and that resolved his symptoms. Make sure to consult with an endodontist. If all is ok with that then consult with an Orofacial pain Doctor and an Oral surgeon. Hope that helps
