Vein Disorders Center Office Information

Well, your age does not fit the diagnosis as usually Temporal or Giant Cell Arteritis ( Horton's disease) is seen in males after 50 years of age. Secondly, it usually comes with visual and other neurologic symptoms. Yes, pain, headaches are a possibility. The diagnosis is made by a biopsy of the temporal artery that in most cases is also very well visible in the temporal area, including it's pulsations. I do not see a bulging artery in the attached photo. This however does not exclude the possibility that you have the condition. I would see a rheumatologist, a good one however. If he/she clears you go see a neurologist and possibly an ophtalmologist as well as temporal arteritis untreated can have severe ocular consequences, if you indeed have it. Stress is a condition that should be considered only if none of the specialists you should consult will come up with a diagnosis to proper explain your complaints and symptoms. If you are living in a city with a medical school go for their specialists. Good luck to you!
