Practicing since 1986
"Always very professional, on time and very considerate with patient needs. The best dental experiences I've ever had "
"As usual, everything went smoothly and made my teeth clean and happy."
"I had a small cavity that required a 2nd visit. I asked Richard if there was any chance he could take care of it right away. He and Lin kicked into high gear and took care of me - same day, record time. I was very impressed and really appreciated their willingness (and ability) to accommodate me. "

You likely are experiencing cracked tooth syndrome. When a tooth is cracked often after a while the tooth can become sensitive to pressure or temperature ( hot and/or cold food or liquids).
I recommend placing a crown on a tooth with these symptoms, approximately 80% of the time this will prevent needing root canal treatment. It is not 100% effective preventing root canal treatment.
Also the frequency and duration of the symptoms factor in to whether or not root canal treatment is necessary first.
Finally, sometimes clinical examination and radiographs show the tooth actually needs to be removed.
Your dentist will examine your tooth and give you his or her treatment recommendation.
I hope this helps you understand the situation with your tooth.
