IV sedation for a 3 year old with the treatment needs you've posted is appropriate. IV medications should be administered by an anesthesiologist and the child monitored by the anesthesiologist the entire time. Prior to the appointment, the anesthesiologist will review the medical history of the child and call you and/or the pediatrician if anything needs clarification. Most anesthesiologists are happy to speak to the parents prior to the appointment, ask your child's dentist for the phone number. Be sure to follow all instructions prior to the appointment. Usually, pediatric dentists have anesthesiologists they regularly use for these procedures. The child will have no recall of the dental procedures so they will have no bad memories! Hope this helps.
